    There is a fire ban in West Rocky View County due to dry, windy conditions. A fire ban prohibits recreational camp fires, any fires contained within facilities and appliances in designated camping and recreational areas and chimeneas. Exceptions include indoor fireplaces, camp stoves (attended), propane and natural gas barbecues, propane and natural gas fire pits, solid fuel barbecues (charcoal briquettes) and wood pellet grills.

    Given the extreme heat and prolonged dry and windy conditions that are predicted to continue for the next while, Rocky View County Fire Services has issued a FIRE ADVISORY for all of Rocky View County. During a Fire Advisory all burning and fireworks permits are suspended. Burning is banned with the exception of indoor household fireplaces, camp stoves, barbecues (charcoal briquettes, propane or natural gas), wood pellet grills, propane/natural gas fire pits, chimineas and recreational camp fires in approved burn pits.

    There are currently no fire bans or advisories for West Rocky View County.

    Effective as of June 6, 2024, Rocky View County Fire Services has issued a FIRE BAN. This is due to the extensive water emergency in Calgary. This ban remains in effect until repairs are made and normal water consumption resumes.

    The Church Ranches Homeowners Association's Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Members who attended enjoyed a presentation and take-home information on Emergency Preparedness and Fire Prevention and Management. Pauli Kruger (Rocky View County Emergency Management) and Corrie Carrobourgh (Fire Inspector) provided appreciated advice.  

    Following the presentation, CRHA President Claudine Hanson called the AGM to order. For more information on the AGM, visit the "Documents" section of this website. The DRAFT minutes for this year's meeting are included. These minutes are not official until voted on and approved at the AGM in 2025.

    The County has been hosting drop-in coffee chats for people to provide feedback on revisions to the Municipal Development Plan (MDP). The MDP affects Church Ranches in that it will outline how Rocky View County should develop in the future. If you missed the feedback session in Bearspaw on January 17, you can complete the online survey here. The survey will be open until March 1, 2024. Further in-person coffee chats are as follows: 

    Cross Iron Mills Mall Community Kiosk - Tues., Feb. 6 from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

    Prairie Grounds Coffee House, Langdon - Wed., Feb. 7 from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

    The Donut Man, Crossfield - Fri., Feb. 9 from 8:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.

    Given the current conditions, Rocky View County Fire Services has issued a Fire Advisory for West Rocky View County effective immediately. This represents a moderate fire risk and remains in effect so long as the weather conditions continue. During a Fire Advisory, all burning and fireworks permits are suspended and burning is banned.     Rocky View County is seeking input from the public for the redrafting and updating of the Municipal Development Plan. This process will outline Rocky View County's future from a planning and development perspective. As such, it will have an impact on Church Ranches and surrounding areas. You can be involved in various ways, including attending the Open House on November 28, 2023, at Rockpointe Church from 2:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and by participating in the online survey found here.
